Message from the Executive Director of Advancement

“A friend is the only one who walks into your life when the world has walked out.”

This sentiment truly reflects the actions of our community during this past year, when it felt that the world had indeed given up on us. When the global pandemic hit our city in early March, the College decided to put a pause on all of our fundraising activities to allow us to focus on our most urgent needs, not only in our families and circles of friends, but also our local hospitals, communities and neighbourhoods. We’ve heard many stories of how the members of the RSGC community served their local community, doing what they could to ease the pain of others during this challenging time. Although admirable, it was not surprising. We are fortunate to belong to a community where we value the needs of others over our own. This clearly demonstrates the importance and continued relevance of our school’s mission. In late spring, when the College put out a request for the newly created Georgian Unity Fund to provide tuition assistance to help our current families, you answered our call, raising over $86,000. This appeal was multiplied by an RSGC family who generously offered an anonymous $100,000 matching gift. Thank you. Due to the economic downturn, the College experienced a 38% increase in requests for financial aid. Thank you for helping us respond when we were called upon. Although many of our plans for future campaigns have been put on hold for the time being, we look forward to the time when we can reach out to you to share our thoughts and plans to enhance the facilities and offerings of the College for our current students and all the boys who will follow them. Thank you for being a good friend to the College and continuing to make RSGC a priority in your giving. Sincerely,

Maria Jordan, CFRE Executive Director of Advancement
