That’s the purpose of the Georgian Parents’ Guild. This year, we embarked on our journey to define a purpose, vision, mission and values in alignment with those of the College. While some wondered why the Guild needed to do so, we believe strongly that shared values are the foundation of organizational culture and lay the groundwork for strong teams. But just as importantly, we believe that clearly defined purpose, vision, mission and values not only provide focus on the goals we set; they also inspire, motivate and engage our parents to achieve them.

Our community of parent volunteers plays a crucial role in our ability to contribute $50,000 to the school’s capital campaign and $15,000 to RSGC Bursaries. The Mistletoe Market, the Cheese Sale, the Used Book Sale and Used Uniform Sales continue to be perennial fundraisers for the Guild, and require teams of dedicated volunteers to stage them. What was clear through our purpose exercise was the positive impact the Guild has on the overall Georgian community. We achieve this impact by creating a parent resource for culture, community and conversation. Parent Connections events, Grade Parent socials, guest speakers at Guild meetings — they all play a crucial role in connecting parents and the school.
